Campaigning by and/or for any candidate on the ballot for WGPO office will be permitted during the election period, starting with the publication of the final ballot on January 17, 2011.
Any member in good standing is eligible to submit campaign support for any candidate, subject to the rules following. Candidates are encouraged to submit a statement containing their positions and reasons for seeking the office for which they are nominated.
Campaign material must be positive in nature, and contain no profane or negative statements. All submissions will be edited where necessary. Accepted and edited material will be posted to the WGPO website within two days of receipt
Campaign material for the member websites may be submitted by e-mail between January 17, 2011, and January 31, 2011. Submissions supporting Executive Committee candidates should be sent to Ruth Hamilton (firstname.lastname@example.org); submissions in support of Board of Player Representative candidates should be sent to Mary Krizan (email@example.com). The Nominations and Election Committee reserves the right to edit and/or reject any material deemed unacceptable for publication. Rejected material will be returned to the sender for possible revision and re-submission.
In addition to the use of WGPO sites, candidates are encouraged to use the Internet at large. Internet campaigning will be direct, using whatever mailing lists are available to the candidates, with the specific exception of the overall WGPO members list. Any Internet submission is expected to follow the rules of conduct contained in Paragraph 3 above.
Nominations are now open for the new election of officers to lead our organization, subsequent to the nullification of the December vote, which was voided due to the determination that notice of that election did not reach a majority of the membership, per the Joint Resolution published to the WGPO listserv and the member website on December 30. 2010. Any member in good standing may place nominations by e-mail or US Postal Service to any member of the Nominations and Elections Committee. They are: Dick McHugh, chairman (firstname.lastname@example.org); Mary Krizan (email@example.com); and Ruth Hamilton (firstname.lastname@example.org). The nominating period will run from January 3, 2011 to January 16, 2011. Nominations sent by postal mail should be sent to Dick McHugh, 1402 E Parkway, Suite 1, Gatlinburg. TN 37738. All postal submissions must be postmarked NO LATER than January 10, 2011 to be accepted.
All nominations received will be acknowledged by e-mail; persons nominated by anyone other than himself or herself will be notified by e-mail, and will be placed on the list of nominees only if they accept the nomination.
All members in good standing as of January 13, 2011 are urged to participate in this election. We will be electing an Executive Committee of three members and a five-member Board of Player Representatives following the nominating period. All candidates nominated for the December election will remain nominated for this election unless they send notification that they wish to withdraw their candidacies. They are listed below.
According to our Bylaws, any member in good standing of the WGPO who is 18 years of age or older before taking office, if elected, is eligible to run for office, EXCEPT members of the Nominations and Elections Committee.
Following the nomination period, the election of officers will commence on January 22, 2011, and continue through January 31, 2011. Rules for conduct of the election phase will be published prior to the beginning of voting.

The main pages of our website are open to the public, members and nonmembers alike.
The Forum section of the website is where members must log in, since this is the page where we will be conducting all membership-wide voting, and voting is only open to members.
Some of you may have registered as members a while ago and cannot remember the username you used to register. Please feel free to contact me at any time and I can look up your username for you. If you have also forgotten your password, as long as you have the correct username, you can reset your password using this link.
We want to ensure that all members who wish to do so are able to vote. Please do not hesitate to contact me, or anybody else on the EC if you are having problems accessing the Forum page on the website. It is no trouble at all to look up a username or confirm membership.
Very recently the WGPO Club Roster was launched on the WGPO web site. For months now the WGPO Tournament Calendar has been up and running with links and information about the growing number of WGPO-approved tournaments around the country. Our membership roll continues to increase steadily.
This morning a new Yahoo listserv for WGPO-certified club and tournament directors is opening as the WGPO DIRECTORS’ FORUM.
Who are WGPO-certified directors? Individuals who have already been certified as club and tournament directors by NSA or NASPA and have joined WGPO are grandfathered in as WGPO-certified directors. WGPO is in the process of developing its director’s certification process, and currently its Executive Committee is certifying new directors on a case-by-case basis.
The initial description and rules of the WGPO Directors’ Forum are set out below.

INITIAL DESCRIPTION AND RULES OF THE WGPO DIRECTORS’ FORUM LISTSERV
The WGPO Directors’ Forum is a listserv open to certified club and tournament directors of the Word Game Players’ Organization. Members of the WGPO Executive Committee and WGPO Board of Player Representatives may belong to this listserv and participate in its discussions regardless of whether they are also certified directors.
The rules of this listserv are simple. It is intended as an open forum for club and tournament directors to discuss among themselves topics related to directing clubs and tournaments. It will provide a means for new directors to obtain help and answers to questions and for experienced directors to share innovative practices and raise matters to receive comments from their fellow directors. Through this forum, directors can get to know each other better and learn from one another. Generally any post is acceptable if it is on topic and written respectfully.
Healthy debates are always encouraged, but please keep the tone respectful and civil.
In keeping with fundamental WGPO principles of openness and transparency, posts to this listserv are not to be considered confidential in nature. Text posted here may be freely shared with others who are not members of the listserv. If a listserv member believes that it is necessary or desirable for a particular topic to be discussed more broadly by the WGPO membership, that topic may be transferred to the general WGPO listserv.
Discussion of particular incident reports and disciplinary proceedings are not proper topics for this listserv. These will be handled elsewhere under the WGPO Bylaws with the discretion and confidentiality that they deserve.
There is a zero-tolerance policy for any personal attacks or mean-spirited arguing. Anyone who submits such a post is subject to immediate removal from the listserv.
