From Deborah Baggett:
The Mill Valley home of Betty Toole was the setting for a “Thanksgiving Bash” with non-traditional food offerings and (eventually) a lovely view of the Bay. Oh, and lots of Scrabble® fun! Over the course of the day, five of the sixteen players achieved a 500+ score, at least one from each division. Bennett Jacobstein played SPLITTER, which in addition to being a triple-triple, contained four letters from the word PILGRIM, earning him the fun prize in his division.
Cynthia Pughsley won 7 of 8 games to take first prize in Division A. Evan Koch placed second after a hard fought final game against Cynthia.
In Division B, Sandy Parry took first place with Tom Tremont coming in 2nd. But for a tied game, Tom may have prevailed. What a difference one more point can make!
In the Collins group, Isaac Apindi also won 7 of 8 games. Paula Catanese and Mary Stevens each had four wins going into the final game . . . Paula pulled off the win for second place, possibly due to the loving motivation from her personal mascot and 4-legged canine friend, Mac A. Roni. Heaven help us if Mary brings her cat along next time.
Thus, we coast through the end of 2018 with fond memories of stellar plays made, phonies discovered, and friendships nurtured through Scrabble®. May you all enjoy a moment to reflect on the blessings in your life. May the blanks be with you!
